Kansas City Chiefs president Mark Donovan has firmly dismissed claims that Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's relationship is a marketing ploy, insisting it is entirely genuine.

Speaking on CNBC's Squawk Box, Donovan addressed persistent rumours about the high-profile relationship between the Chiefs tight end and the global pop star.

The Chiefs executive acknowledged he would have loved to take credit for such a marketing strategy but confirmed the romance is completely authentic.

"I'd love to say that it was a marketing strategy, but it is an authentic relationship, and we're happy to have it," Donovan said.

The Chiefs president emphasised Swift's genuine connection to the team.

"It's been nothing but good for us," he added.

"I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact it's had on us is: Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom.

"She is an authentic fan, and that matters to our fans and our fanbase, and it matters to us and we try to respect that."

The Chiefs organisation has taken a measured approach to Swift's presence at games, deliberately avoiding over-exposure.

Donovan explained earlier this year that the team is 'not trying to capitalize on this'.

"We're trying to celebrate it, but it's not about doing too much or showing her every touchdown or anything like that," he said.

This respectful approach means fans won't see excessive coverage of Swift on the stadium's scoreboard or hear her music constantly played through the loudspeakers.

The strategy reflects the organisation's commitment to treating Swift's attendance with authenticity rather than as a marketing opportunity.

The relationship has had a significant financial impact, with Apex Marketing Group reporting that Swift's appearances at Chiefs games boosted the NFL's brand value by an estimated £331.5 million as of January.

The high-profile romance has sparked various conspiracy theories, with some claiming it was orchestrated for political purposes.
