Former Conservative MP Marco Longhi has said that he fears that the country will suffer as a result of Labour funding public sector pay.

Speaking to GB News, he said: "We all know what's going to happen is going to mean higher tax rises.

"We all know that when a government, as it did in the 70s, keeps on caving into the unions, all that happens is that they keep coming back for more.

"And guess what happened in the 70s? I'm a child of the 60s. I remember some of this. They bankrupt Britain."
