James Bond fans everywhere are still waiting with bated breath to see which actor will step into the vacant slot left by Daniel Craig - but it isn't just the identity of the next 007 star that remains a mystery.

As film fans everywhere know, the Bond film franchise is just as famous for its leading ladies as well as the tuxedo-wearing spy that fronts the action.

During Craig's stint as Bond, he starred opposite the likes of Eva Green, Gemma Arterton, Bérénice Marlohe, Monica Bellucci and Léa Seydoux as 007's love interests.

Earlier this year, it looked like the next Bond girl would be starring alongside Kick-Ass and Bullet Train actor Aaron Taylor-John but that's still to be confirmed - and new data suggests he could be usurped for the role.

In terms of the race to star opposite Taylor-Johnson - or whoever takes over the role - Sydney Sweeney has long been a frontrunner in a debate that also includes the likes of Jenna Ortega, Nicola Coughlan and Dua Lipa.

But according to new research conducted with the help of AI, none of these female stars look set to bag the role with evidence instead suggesting it'll be Killing Eve star Jodie Comer who'll be the perfect fit.

The data has combined the likes of ChatGPT, Gemini and Bing AI to conjure up a prediction for the Bond girl role and Comer is the name that's emerged as the most likely.

Neil Roarty, Content Lead at Coin Poker, commented on the findings, telling GB News: "There are so many candidates who would all make a superb Bond girl, but AI’s selection of Jodie Comer is not only one that massively appeals but also one that makes total sense.

"Comer has shown she is capable of playing a leading lady role, just like she did in Killing Eve as Villanelle.

"Although the likes of Sydney Sweeney, Jenna Ortega, Michelle Keegan, Nicole Coughlan and even Maya Jama were being speculated as potential Bond girls, Comer makes total sense and is certainly an ideal selection from AI."

Comer hasn't publicly addressed the possibility of taking over from Seydoux as the next Bond girl but was rumoured to be taking over from Craig in the titular role in what would've been a major revamp for the franchise.

However, Bond boss Barbara Broccoli ruled out the possibility of a female 007 back in 2021 but Comer's response to the rumours could pave the way for a possible Bond girl stint.

She previously told Access Hollywood about the 007 role: "You never say never to anything I don't think! I feel like Villanelle was my... she was my Bond but better - can I say that?"

So while the titular role may be off the cards, the AI data may well be backed up if Comer adopts her "never say never" attitude to the part.

However, Sweeney does remain the frontrunner for the role with several bookmakers as the wait for Craig's replacement continues.

Sweeney faces tough opposition according to the odds, however, with Bridgerton star Coughlan becoming a more and more popular punt following the return of the Netflix period drama this year.

Gambling.com betting expert, James Leyfield, told GB News back in June: "Sydney Sweeney has been in contention for a while, but the star's price has now been cut by the bookies to 6/4.

"Another star whose career continues to go from strength to strength is Nicola Coughlan. The Irish actress rose to prominence in comedy series Derry Girls, but Netflix megahit Bridgerton has put her firmly on the showbiz map.

"The latest series mainly focused on Coughlan's character Penelope Bridgerton, and she has essentially become the main star of the series thanks to her alter-ego, gossip columnist Lady Whistledown.

"Coughlan is also no stranger to the big screen having appeared in last year's Barbie movie, and she would be a shrewd signing by Bond bosses. The star is 7/4 to add a Bond film to her film credits."

Comer closely followed the duo at 2/1 while The Gentlemen's Kaya Scodelario was priced at 3/1, and Fool Me Once star Michelle Keegan at 7/2.
