An airplane carrying Vice President candidate JD Vance was forced to make an emergency landing after a malfunction in flight.

The chartered Boeing 737 known as Trump Force Two was forced to return to Milwaukee, where Donald Trump's running mate had appeared earlier with local police officers.

Spokeswoman Taylor Van Kirk said: "The pilot advised there was a malfunction with the door seal. After declaring an emergency, Trump Force Two returned to Milwaukee.

"As soon as the issue was resolved, the plane returned to its originally planned flight path back to Cincinnati."

Vance and Democratic rival Tim Walz will debate on October 1 on CBS, after Vance said in a post on social media that he had agreed to the date.

Vance, former President Donald Trump's running mate, also said he had accepted CNN's invitation to debate Walz, who is running alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, on September 18.

In his post, Vance wrote: "The American people deserve as many debates as possible."

But the Harris campaign said there would not be a second vice presidential debate, though it confirmed that it was planning for a second presidential debate in October.

Harris and Trump are scheduled to debate on September 10 on ABC News, and Tyler said their second clash would take place in October.

The Trump campaign has not confirmed that timing, and a date and network have not been announced for a second debate.

Vance said he supports Trump's call for presidents to have a say in Federal Reserve Board policy-making, including interest-rate moves, saying those should be "political" decisions.

His remarks during an interview with CNN's "State of the Union" program came after Trump on Thursday told reporters: "I feel the president should have at least (a) say in there."

The Trump-Vance remarks come on the heels of a "2025 Presidential Transition Project," a controversial agenda pushed by some conservatives that recommends vast changes throughout the federal government if Trump wins the November 5 presidential election against Harris.

Among its recommendations were: "Appoint a commission to explore the mission of the Federal Reserve, alternatives to the Federal Reserve system, and the nation’s financial regulatory apparatus," along with other proposals for the Fed.

As Democrats have ramped up their attacks on "Project 2025," Trump has distanced himself from it.
