Amanda Abbington has vowed to not let “the haters win” in the wake of a terrifying death threat made against her.

Police are currently investigating a threat sent via email to a London theatre where the former Strictly Come Dancing star is performing.

It warned the ex-Sherlock and Miss Selfridge star she would “die on stage” unless she withdrew a complaint against former dance partner Giovanni Pernice, which is currently being probed by the BBC.

Security at the Park Theatre in Finsbury Park, north London, where Amanda is starring in When It Happens To You, is now massively being stepped up.

But a pal close to the actress said she has no plans to walk away from the show despite the clear risk to her safety. The source exclusively told GB News: “Obviously Amanda was horrified when she was told by the theatre that they’d received the threat.

“The theatre quickly called in police, and Amanda has been cooperating fully with detectives, who are confident they can trace who sent it. But Amanda has no plans to walk away from the show. She is absolutely committed to finishing her run in the play, and is determined not to let the haters win.

“Amanda also has no regrets about bringing the complaint about Giovanni to the attention of the BBC. She spoke out because she believes what happened to her was not acceptable and she didn’t want anyone else appearing on the show to go through the same horrendous experience that she alleges to have taken place.

“She knows it has generated a lot of anger towards her, especially from Giovanni’s fans, but she wouldn’t turn the clock back and withdraw the complaint."

Artistic director and CEO of the Park Theatre Jez Bond said: "We can confirm we reported a threat to the police and are assisting them in their inquiries.

"The safety of all our performers, theatre staff and visitors is of paramount importance."

The death-threat comes in the wake of an interview in which Amanda admitted to being worried about taking public transport.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour on Friday, she said she had withdrawn from social media after getting “incredibly toxic and relentless” online abuse from Strictly fans.

She claimed previously this included death and rape threats against her and her family.

She said: “When I’m on the train and things, I do sometimes feel exposed and vulnerable, I do, because of the nature of the threats I was getting. You do feel like your public enemy number one for saying ‘I do not feel entirely happy with this’
