John Hunt has broken his silence following the murder of his wife and two daughters.

Hertfordshire Police said three women were found with serious injuries in Ashlyn Close, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, just before 7pm on Tuesday.

The force confirmed they died at the scene a short time later.

The family of the victims released a short statement today.

Husband and father John Hunt, and daughter and sister, Amy, said they were “devastated” following the loss of wife and mother Carol, 61, and daughters Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25.

“The devastation that we are experiencing cannot be put into words,” they said.

“We would like to thank people for their kind messages and for the support we have received in recent days. These have provided great comfort to us for which we are very grateful.

“As you can imagine, this is an extremely difficult time for us, and we need time and space to come to terms with what has happened and start the grieving process.

“While this is happening, we would ask that our privacy and that of our wider family and relations be respected at this time. Thank you.”

Police confirmed a 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of murder.

He is being treated for injuries in hospital and remains in a serious condition.

Detective Superintendent Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said after the arrest: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family at this tragic time.

“The investigation is moving at pace and as a result, we have now arrested a man. Enquiries are continuing at this time.”

Friends of the victims have also shared their thoughts following a memorial service in Bushey on Thursday.

Hannah Hunt's colleagues paid tribute to the “fantastic therapist”, adding it was with “deep regret and sadness” that the Anti-Ageing Clinic was informed of the “horrific murder” on Tuesday night.

Louise Hunt's friend Rohit Mitra described the 25-year-old as “one of the loveliest girls I knew”, saying she “always had a smile and was very positive and hardworking”.

Dionne Smith, Abigail Phillips and Lea Holloway, who were close with Carol Hunt, revealed they were “together in grief”.
