A 26-year-old man has been arrested just days after three women were killed on Tuesday.
The man was arrested after police launched a mass search for the suspect on Wednesday.
He was being treated for injuries in hospital and remains in a serious condition.
Hertfordshire Police confirmed the 26-year-old was arrested on Thursday evening on suspicion of three counts of murder.
Detective Superintendent Rob Hall, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the victims’ family at this tragic time.
“The investigation is moving at pace and as a result, we have now arrested a man. Enquiries are continuing at this time.”
The victims were named as Carol Hunt, 61, the wife of Sky Sports presenter and BBC racing commentator John Hunt, and two of their daughters, Hannah, 28, and Louise, 25.
The three women were found in Ashlyn Close, in Bushey, Hertfordshire, just before 7pm on Tuesday.

The attack rocked the local community, with a local service being held for mourners to share their respects with the victims.
The three women were found with serious injuries and died at the scene a short time later.
Police conducted further searches at a house in Rendlesham Road, Enfield, on Thursday morning in relation to the deaths.
Officer donned gloves and face masks outside the property during the search on Wednesday.
Friends of the victims later shared their thoughts on the victims following a memorial service in Bushey on Thursday.
Hannah Hunt's colleagues paid tribute to the "fantastic therapist", adding it was with "deep regret and sadness" that the Anti-Ageing Clinic was informed of the "horrific murder" on Tuesday night.
Louise Hunt's friend Rohit Mitra described the 25-year-old as "one of the loveliest girls I knew", saying she "always had a smile and was very positive and hardworking".
Dionne Smith, Abigail Phillips and Lea Holloway, who were close with Carol Hunt, revealed they were "together in grief".
