YouTuber and political commentator Carl Benjamin says imposing a 10-year freeze on incoming immigration will help the UK to a “much more balanced equilibrium”.

Speaking to Steve Edginton on GBN America, Benjamin criticised the former Conservative government for how they handled the issue over the past 14 years, accusing them of having “no desire” to impose any form of border control.

Many feel the matter has resulted in the surge of Reform UK, the Nigel Farage-led party who focused much of their General Election campaigning efforts on the issue.

Asked how the country should go about resolving the issue, which he believes has led to mass overpopulation, Benjamin said: “I think the best plan to is analyse the actual situation.

“At the moment, mass immigration is only really a problem because the Conservatives essentially had no desire to impose any kind of control on the borders.

“They let something like 1.5 million people every year and there is a net outflow of somewhere between 600 to 800,000 people every year, which creates the net inflow of around 750,000.

“I think if we were to simply stop the inflow, then the net outflow would still carry on. I don’t think there’s any reason to think that would stop. The country at the moment feels massively overpopulated.

“I think ten years of zero immigration in and allow the immigration out to do its own work will make the country feel like it’s in a much more balanced equilibrium than it was under the Conservatives, and probably will be under Labour.”

Immigration has been blamed as one of the key reasons for the crushing defeat suffered by the Conservatives at the General Election.

Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman said her party failed to keep its promise of “stopping the wave of illegal migrants landing on our shores”.

The Tories made a net loss of 251 seats at the election last week, which Braverman called a “devastating result”.

Labour won a landslide with 412 MPs, ousting senior Tory figures like Jacob Rees-Mogg and former Commons leader Penny Mordaunt.

Speaking about the campaign trail, Braverman said: “It was challenging, it was gruelling, it was brutal, and we have to now face the facts as to why we ended up with this situation, and more importantly, what we do about it to move forward.

“And I know PopCons is going to play a pivotal role in the renaissance of our Conservative Party because boy does the country need it.

“Labour has installed itself and will start its job of dismantling the structures that will enable prosperity, the foundation of our order and the things that we cherish in this country to make our country great.”
