Reform UK leader Nigel Farage was met with jeers as he delivered his first ever House of Commons speech.
The 60-year-old opted to focus his first speech on speaker Lindsay Hoyle by praising him and taking a swipe at his predecessor, John Bercow.
Bercow was banned from parliament in 2022 after he was found guilty of bullying by an inquiry.
Farage being called upon to speak by Hoyle was enough to spark jeers, and murmurs could be heard as he finished off his speech and sat back down.
“It’s pretty clear with everybody that you act with neutrality snd you brought tremendous dignity to the role as Speaker”, he told Lindsay Hoyle.
“So we absolutely endorse you entirely for this job.
“And it is, I must say, in marked contrast to the little man who was there before you and besmirched the office so dreadfully in doing his best to overturn the biggest democratic result in the historic of the country, we support you fully.”
Upon the conclusion of his speech, Farage was not met with cheers but instead with murmurs as a packed out Commons digested the words of Reform’s head honcho.
Opening up his speech, the 60-year-old, who has become an MP after his eighth attempt of trying, defiantly spoke about his party’s role in Parliament and claimed the general public has much disdain for its operation.
“We are the new kids on the block”, he said.
“We have no experience in Parliament whatsoever. Even though some of us have tried many times over the years previously to get here.
“We can’t judge for working in this place, but we can judge you for how the outside world sees you.
“I don’t just mean the United Kingdom, I mean the world. Prime Minister’s Question Time is box office politics.”
Farage has been basking in the glory of his party returning five MPs to parliament.
Alongside the 60-year-old is Lee Anderson, Richard Tice, Rupert Lowe and James McMurdock.
They were all pictured arriving in Westminster this morning as the party continues in its bid to wreak havoc in parliament.
