Controversial influencer Andrew Tate has been celebrating after a Romanian court ruled the 37-year-old can travel within the European Union while awaiting trial.

The Bucharest Tribunal ruled in favour of Tate and his brother Tristan leaving Romania while awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking.

The Tates had been banned from leaving Romania until Friday.

However, the decision is not yet final and prosecutors can file for an appeal.

Tate, was charged alongside his brother for human trafficking, rape, and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women in mid-2023.

Two female suspects from Romania have also been charged as part of the case.

The quartet have all strongly denied the allegations made against them.

Following the latest ruling, Tate said: "I'm free. For the first time in three years I can leave Romania."

Tate added: "The process is the punishment, in the end I'll be innocent.

The Tates were held in police custody from late December 2022 until April 2023.

The brothers were then placed under house arrest until August.

"Andrew and Tristan are still determined to clear their name and reputation; however, they are grateful to the courts for placing this trust in them," the Tates' lead defence lawyer Eugen Vidineac said in a statement.

The Tates also face being extradited to the UK following proceedings in Romania after an arrest warrant was issued over allegations of sexual aggression dating back to 2012 to 2015.
