Missing Briton Jay Slater's close friend Lucy Law has shared a new photo of the two teenagers as the hunt for Jay nears its third week.

In her first post on social media platform Instagram in weeks, Law uploaded an image of herself and the 19-year-old from Lancashire captioned with a crying face and heart emoji.

Law had been the last person to speak to Slater on the morning of June 17 before he went missing - and joined his family and friends in Tenerife in Spain to help them with their search efforts.

The pair had travelled to the holiday island together to attend the NRG music festival, and had partied into the night on June 16 at the Papagayo nightclub.

Slater disappeared the next morning in the Rural de Teno park in the island's north-west after setting off to walk back to his accommodation after a night of partying.

In an effort to raise money to track down her friend, Law had set up an appeal on crowdfunding site GoFundMe - "Get JAY SLATER home" - which has so far raised close to £50,000.

Meanwhile, Slater's mother Debbie Duncan has has said donations will be used to support volunteers helping to find her son after Spanish authorities called off their search.

In a statement on the GoFundMe page, Duncan thanked the "vast" generosity of donors, saying her family are "grateful for all of your support and kindness during this unimaginable time".

Duncan wrote that part of the funds will be used to support volunteers hunting for Slater in the mountains near to where his last phone call was traced.

She went on: "We are currently looking after Paul Arnett, putting together a package of any equipment and essentials he needs and going up to do a drop for him.

"We are also supporting Callum Fahim and his group with accommodation and other essentials."

The remaining money will be used to support rescue teams, Duncan said, as well as her family's "own expenses as we remain in Tenerife looking for our boy".

But Fahim, who had been on the island for two weeks helping search efforts, later decided to come back home after he claimed he had received no funds.

A row broke out between Fahim and the Slater family after Duncan's statement; he claimed that needed to pay "for his own bus tickets" to go to the search site in the village of Masca each day.

On a live-streamed video on social media, he said: "I can confirm that none of my essentials and none of my group's essentials have been paid. However she did contribute towards a hotel and flight."

Speaking to Sky News, Fahim insisted: "I haven't had anything from the GoFundMe. We have not had a bit of essentials paid for."
