The 2024 Election is shaping up to be another night of dramatic twists and turns with Rishi Sunak and Sir Keir Starmer vying for the keys to 10 Downing Street.

The People's Channel will be broadcasting live including from the Election Night Party in Essex hosted by Patrick Christys and Michelle Dewberry.

GBNews.com will be covering the events of the night live with correspondents across the country bringing you the results as they happen with analysis from a top team of commentators from across the political spectrum.

After polls close at 10pm UK time, votes will be counted in all 650 constituencies across the country.

The electoral system operates on a first past the post methodology, meaning each constituency has one MP. In order to achieve a majority in government, a party will need to win 326 constituencies, also known as seats.

If no party achieves higher than 326, then a situation of no overall control occurs, commonly referred to as a "Hung Parliament." This has happened twice in the 21st century, once in 2010 and again in 2017.

Constituencies in Sunderland and Newcastle traditionally go head-to-head to be the first to declare their results, with the record set in Sunderland at 42 minutes and 45 seconds at the 2005 election. However, most constituencies will not declare their results until the early hours of Friday morning.

GB News coverage starts live from 9.55pm with Camilla Tominey and Stephen Dixon hosting the live studio results from the GB News Headquarters.

Studio guests will include former Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng, former Labour Chief Whip Geoff Hoon, presenters Alastair Stewart and Arlene Foster as well as former Justice Secretary Sir Brandon Lewis and former Labour MP Luciana Berger.

Analysis will also be provided by the PMQs Live team, with political editor Christopher Hope and former Labour MP and presenter Gloria De Piero sharing their insights on the night's event.

GB News presenters and reporters will be reporting live from polling stations across the UK through the night.

From 6am, Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster will be live with GBN Breakfast, with Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce on Britain's Newsroom continuing the analysis from 9.30am, dissecting the nights events.

Editorial director Mick Booker said: "Viewers and listeners can also expect some surprise guests and fun and games at our election party as the people decide on who will govern our country from July 5."
