A search was launched for man who vanished while swimming in water off Bournemouth beach.
The man has since been found safe and well after he went missing near the pier.
The coastguard helicopter was spotted at the scene along with Dorset Police and the RNLI.
Emergency services received reports of a person in the sea near Bournemouth Pier.
RNLI jet skis and volunteers were searching along the seafront.
One witness said people were asked to get out of the water.
It comes as temperatures surged to 28C in some parts of the UK - making it the hottest day of the year so far.

The coastguard helicopter has now left the search to head back to its headquarters at Lee on Solent.
All emergency services have now left the scene and swimming has resumed along the coast.
Bournemouth beach has been particularly busy over recent days following glorious weather.
