Political commentator and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk says he is fearful of Donald Trump being the target of an assassination attempt.

Speaking to Steve Edginton on GBN America, the Trump advocate asked “what else do they have left?” as he accused liberal-left forces of conspiring to oust Trump.

It comes after the former president was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records.

According to Kirk, Trump being found guilty will only strengthen his position with the electorate, and this could prompt some to consider more radical measures.

He pointed out that ahead of Trump’s talk in Detroit at a Turning Point event last week, there was a heavy Secret Service presence which “threw a curveball” in their day.

“They [the Secret Service] had to clear out this entire room”, he said.

“It threw a curveball in our entire day. It was actually one of the greatest things because I was like ‘wow, they’re actually doing their job to protect him from someone. Assassins’.

“What I saw today gave me a lot of hope that the Secret Service really is taking their job seriously.

“I know people have to wait long lines to see him, and I say, ‘well, do you want him to be protected or not?’

“I’m afraid someone is going to try. What else do they have left? I hope God protects him and I hope those agents around him protect him.”

Trump was found guilty last month when a panel of 12 jurors voted against him unanimously.

The court heard from more than 20 witnesses over six weeks, including Stormy Daniels, whom the alleged sexual encounter is said to have taken place with.

The 77-year-old was accused of concealing a payment to buy the former adult-film star’s silence as the 2016 election campaign neared its conclusion.

He will be sentenced on 11 July - just days before the Republican National Convention.

A prison sentence could be on the cards, but a financial punishment is seen as the more likely penalty.
