Joe Biden seemed to freeze on stage at a star-studded fundraiser before Barack Obama came to his rescue and pulled the president away.

The latest incident was captured at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles where the former president and Biden received a standing ovation.

The 81-year-old can be seen waving and putting his thumb up to the audience.

However, Biden then stops moving and stares into the crowd for a period of time.

Obama then takes Biden by the arm and gently pulls him away as he appears to snap out of it.

The pair walk off the stage together with Obama speaking into Biden's ear before patting him on the back.

Late-night host Jimmy Kimmel is seen awkwardly following the duo as he trails behind.

The event saw more than $30million raised for Biden's reelection bid.

The latest "freeze" episode follows a number of similar incidents over recent few days.

On Monday, Biden sparked concern when he appeared to freeze for almost a minute before his speech became slurred at a Juneteenth celebration.

Last week, Biden was seen walking away from world leaders at a G7 meeting Puglia, Italy.

The international summit saw the leaders - including Rishi Sunak - gather to watch parachute jumpers fall from the sky with the flags of allied nations.

But as pictures are set to be taken, Biden is seen walking away from the shoot before Italian PM Giorgia Meloni ushers him back.

Sources say the US president shows moments of sharpness and clarity, but at others appears to be "losing focus".

White House press secretary Andrew Bates claimed Biden was congratulating a diver on the floor who was collecting his things.

Bates blamed the "desperate" media for using "an artificially narrow frame" to make the president look bad.
