Several Peaky Blinders fans have been left with mixed emotions after Netflix confirmed the hit series would return to screens in the form of a feature-length film.
The Cillian Murphy-led gangster drama originally ran for six seasons with the BBC, bagging a BAFTA along the way and cementing itself as one of the nation's most popular dramas in recent years.
Murphy plays Tommy Shelby, a Birmingham-based gangster whose family faces enemy after enemy in the murky world of underground crime in the early 1900s.
The Oscar-winning actor will reprise the role of Tommy in the Netflix film and will join forces once again with writer Steven Knight and director Tom Harper.
Netflix shared a photo of the script to announce the news on Tuesday but even though the aforementioned trio would be at the forefront, a number of fans have concerns.
Many are fearing the worst that the Shelbys' story will now be told on Netflix rather than the BBC while others aren't convinced the continuation of the story is entirely necessary.
Reacting to Netflix's announcement, one fan said on X: "Wait, WHAT ? A #PeakyBlinders movie? I want to scream yeeeeeees, for sure I want it, but is it truly for the fans, is it not just a new way to make money on it... Afraid of the bonus movie which is gonna feel too much, not necessary. We'll see."
"Can’t wait! They better not ruin it," another weighed before a third similarly warned: "Don’t f** it up."
A fourth also hit out at the streamer: "Why does it have to be on your s****y service I wanna watch this in a theater."
While a fifth remained unconvinced: "Nope it’s all Netflix then. [Nervous] for the fans, let’s hope."

Elsewhere, another referenced a different BBC that got the Netflix movie treatment: "Don’t get excited. Remember the Luther film."
But among the naysayers were still hoards of fans delighted they'd get the chance to see the Shelby clan back to their usual ways.
"This is just... f***ing brilliant. Who's coming to the Garrison to celebrate?!" one fan joked, referring to the show's famous pub.
And a second simply put: "I am ridiculously, irrationally, overly excited about this." (sic)
Production is tipped to begin later this year and details of further casting and plot details remain under wraps for now.
Murphy has spoken out on returning to the drama, however, telling Deadline: "It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me.

"It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans."
Director Harper also told the publication: "When I first directed Peaky Blinders over 10 years ago, we didn’t know what the series would become, but we did know that there was something in the alchemy of the cast and the writing that felt explosive.
"Peaky has always been a story about family — and so it’s incredibly exciting to be reuniting with Steve and Cillian to bring the movie to audiences across the world on Netflix."
And Knight admitted he was "genuinely thrilled" about the film, before adding: "It will be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full-on Peaky Blinders at war."
