Meghan Markle could be forced to adopt an unusual title which would be a “bitter pill” for the duchess to swallow, according to a royal commentator.

Prince Harry and Meghan have faced calls for their duke and duchess titles to be stripped after a series of swipes at the Royal Family.

Speaking on GBN America, royal commentator Lee Cohen said this may have strange ramifications for Meghan due to the new title she could be bestowed with.

As the prince title cannot be removed from Harry, Cohen explained that their duke and duchess titles being stripped may see the couple become Prince and Princess Henry.

“If the duke and duchess titles were removed, she would assume a Princess title”, he told Mark Dolan.

“But if she chose to use the title, it would be Princess Henry.

“What a bitter pill for an arch-feminist like Meghan to have to carry around her husband’s name if she chose to deploy her title.

“She would be broadcasting that she is nothing without her man. Delicious.”

As Harry is a prince by birth, his Dukedom being revoked would mean he is still a prince, while Meghan would become Princess Henry.

Another royal, Princess Michael of Kent, also adopts the feminine form of her husband’s title as she married into the Royal Family and Prince Michael does not hold another royal title.

It comes after another move by the Royal Family appearing to distance themselves from the estranged couple.

The official royal website has cleared some of its archives, with Harry’s 2016 statement defending Meghan becoming inaccessible.

Cohen sees no reason why the couple should keep “online real estate”.

“I don’t see anything untoward in this by the Palace”, he said.

“The statement was originally posted on the royal site in 2016. The website constantly consolidates and cleans up content for good online hygiene.

“Harry and Meghan haven’t been productive Royal Family members since 2020. On the contrary, they have behaved disgracefully towards the family.

“They no longer have domiciles in the UK, so I cannot see any reason why they need online real estate.”
