A grandmother has been told off by police after she chased down a group of vandals who broke her gate and told them she would “wring their necks”.
Gillian Mears, 70, said that she “saw red” after a bunch of teenagers damaged the back gate of her house in Kessingland, Suffolk.
The pensioner chased the youths down the street with help from her neighbours after the incident on April 20.
She explained: “I just saw red and lost the plot in a fit of rage and took to chasing the gang of youths down the street.
“I called the police and only when I told them that if I got my hands on them I would wring their necks did they rock up.
“When they arrived they told me off for making that threat, which was not a threat it was me just venting my anger.”
The grandmother of four and her husband John had to pay to have their gate repaired, only for the vandals to return days later and destroy the gate in its entirety.
John, who is disabled, fell over when he went out to confront them during the second attack.

The 70-year-old had to pick her husband up off the floor, before calling the police to report the vandalism.
In total, the couple have paid £520 to have their gate repaired twice.
Now, they say that they are “living in fear” that the vandals will return to their property again and inflict further damage.
Mears said: “Those evil kids just laughing at me and my husband makes me feel sick and full of despair with the next generation, I have no hope, their parents should be ashamed.”
A Suffolk Police spokesman said: “The investigation is ongoing into the criminal damage and anti-social behaviour by a group of youths on April 20.
“If anyone has any information that could help our investigation they should contact us.”
