Royal commentator Michael Cole has branded Prince Harry a “case of arrested development” in a scathing rant about the duke’s rift with his family.

The schism in the family appeared to be on show again earlier in the month when Harry did not meet King Charles or Prince William after jetting back to the UK.

The 39-year-old was in London for a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Despite many believing Harry would pay his cancer-stricken father a visit, the duke announced this would not be the case due to the monarch’s “full” schedule.

Speaking on GBN America, Cole was asked by Nana Akua about the King and Prince of Wales “resisting” reconciliation.

“I think we’re dealing with a case of arrested development here”, Cole responded.

“Prince Harry is 40 in September and he doesn’t seem to realise that words have power and actions have consequences.

“He and his wife have spent the last four years making cruel, unjustified and unkind criticisms of his family and senior members of it and now they seem rather surprised that no one wants to hug, kiss and forgive.

“That shouldn’t be a surprise but it seems to be for them. Prince Harry has said he loves this country and it will always be his home but the people of this country are not too sure about that because he has gone into self-imposed exile in California.”

Cole went onto suggest the duke is ungrateful for the “wonderful life” he enjoys with his wife Meghan Markle.

“They should be hugging themselves with glee”, he said.

“And yet, when do you see a genuine smile across the face of Prince Harry? He used to be the happy prince, he doesn’t seem to be now.”

The duke is said to have rejected an invitation from his father to stay at a royal residence earlier in the month due to security concerns.

The Telegraph reported that Harry’s concerns over security led to the snub.

Due to the lack of security provision, Harry would have been staying in a visible location with a public entrance and exit points with no police protection, it has been reported.

Harry jumped on a plane in February for a whirlwind trip to Britain to pay his father a visit upon learning of his cancer diagnosis.

He is said to have been with Charles for les than an hour before staying overnight in a hotel.

No meeting took place with his older brother, William, who he is not believed to be on speaking terms with.
