The US presidential debates are poised to make a “real difference” in the White House race for one key reason, Jill Biden’s former press secretary has claimed.
Michael Larosa joined Patrick Christys on GBN America to discuss the two presidential TV debates that will take place in June and September.
According to Larosa, the debates taking place at such an early stage could be pivotal for both candidates.
“They are happening the earliest they’ve ever been “, he told GBN America.
“There are opportunities for them to make a real difference and I think that’s a plus for both of the candidates.”
Ex-Republican congressman Doug Collins picked up on the point to highlight how the timing of the debates could play into Joe Biden’s hands.
“I think Biden came to this realisation about debates”, he said.
“The polls right now show people do not believe he is actually leading in the way that they would like to say.
“He’s had trouble on the left and trouble on the right, and if you were from a Biden standpoint, you want want to get him out there to see if he can actually overcome this perception that he’s not in control and try to reverse the numbers this early in the campaign.
“It’s going to be really interesting to see.”
The first debate will take place in the key swing state of Georgia.
The announcement came after Joe Biden laid out his terms for debating his Republican predecessor.
No audience will be in attendance at June’s debate, which is taking place unusually early.
The election will take place in November and promises to be a divisive race given the bitter blows traded by Trump and Biden in the past.
