Jake Paul's private jet was struck by lightning as he jetted away from New York ahead of his fight with Mike Tyson later in the year.

The duo recently held a press conference in New York, with both men talking up the showdown.

Yet Paul then embarked on a terrifying flight home, with the 27-year-old sharing footage on social media.

Paul shared a video of his plane, which is reportedly worth a staggering £30million, shaking violently after seemingly being struck by lightning.

Paul was holding his golden retriever, named Thor, and prayed to Zeus - the god of lighting.

"We woke up the gods of war and (there is) lightning on the plane, brother," he said.

After a fierce crackle is heard, he added: "Oh s**t! Zeus, I love you brother."

Fortunately, Paul was able to land safety with his dog and the rest of his team.

He later shared another video, saying: "The way home from the presser was interesting."

While Paul initially seemed scared, he accompanied his message with a laughing face emoji - suggesting he wasn't too fazed by the ordeal.

As things stand, Paul and Tyson's fight on July 20 is expected to go ahead.

And that's despite many criticising the pair for agreeing to a showdown despite a massive 30-year age gap.

Tyson, however, has blasted back at his critics and insists those condemning the fight are simply jealous.

"The people who said that [I am too old to fight] wish that they were up here," he said last week.

"No one else can do this. Who else can do this? Who else can shut the sporting world down? No one else can do it.

"You got the both of us, so we're going to do this. We're friends. There's no doubt we're friends.

"But in the ring, we're not going to be friends. That's just what it is.”

Tyson will be 58 by the time the fight takes place, however.

And he admitted his body was 'sore' and 's**t' as he works hard in the gym to prepare for the bout.

"I'm doing great but my body is s**t right now," he added.

"I'm really sore. I wanted shorter rounds because I wanted more action. If we only have two minutes we are fighting more.

"We're going to see, huh, [if Paul can take my power].
