Bryson DeChambeau was caught on camera raging at a golf fan for taking a ball away from a child prior to missing out on PGA Championship glory to Xander Schauffele on Sunday.

DeChambeau missed out on the prize by a point at Valhalla after impressing during the four-day event.

However, the 30-year-old was left enraged by the behaviour of a golf fan in attendance while on his way to the 10th tee.

A video uploaded on X shows the American throwing the ball towards a young child.

However, the ball was then intercepted by an adult - with those in nearby proximity immediately venting their anger.

DeChambeau could be heard shouting at the man and beckoning him over to do the right thing, with the individual in question then appearing to oblige.

It was a classy thing for the 30-year-old to do, especially at such a crucial moment.

And fans on the social media website have now lauded DeChambeau for his actions, with one user saying: "Class act. Bryson is the man!:"

A second said: "The Bryson DeChambeau character arc is what the golf world needs. He rocks."

Another stated: "Yes! That is the way @b_dechambeau!."

A fourth opined: "Taking time in the middle of a golf tournament to stick up for the kid. I am really impressed by @b_dechambeau."

A fifth said: "Bryson went from complaining about ants to being one of the most likable guys."

"Man.. I’m starting to like Bryson now.. it’s such a weird feeling," were the words of another user.

And a seventh said: "Ok. I'm now a Bryson fan."

While DeChambeau was unable to win the PGA Championship, he did say afterwards he was happy with the way he performed.

"[I] felt like I had my 'B' game pretty much," he said.

"My putting was A+, my wedging was A+, short game was A+, driving was like B. You know, shot 20-under par in a major championship.

"Proud of myself for the way I handled adversity.

"Definitely disappointing, but one that gives me a lot of momentum for the rest of the majors.

"I said today it was closing time, but it will be closing time hopefully, hopefully over the next couple majors."

As for Schauffele, the American was delighted after winning the first major of his career.

"I was pretty nervous," he admitted when asked about the closing stages of the tournament.

"I kept reading it, kept kind of panning.

"I thought, oh, my gosh, this is not what I want for a winning putt.

"I ended up playing it straight. I don't really remember it lipping in, I just heard everyone roaring and I just looked up to the sky in relief.

"This is awesome. It's super sweet."
