Worldwide governments must come together for a proper discussion on new powers being handed to the World Health Organisation (WHO) that could see it force countries into lockdowns during pandemics, Nigel Farage has argued.

The Reform UK honorary president spoke on GB News about the WHO’s proposal of a pandemic treaty that would be legally binding on all 194 member states.

The GB News star is launching a petition to ensure public sentiment on the matter is felt.

“In two weeks time, our government is committed to signing a new treaty”, he said.

“It would be binding under international law. This would now give this organisation the power to take 20 per cent of our PPE and vaccines which they would take and give to poorer, third world countries.

“It would also give them the right to declare a global pandemic and tell us to lockdown.

“Not only have we had enough of lockdowns, but we could all now see the approach that Florida and Sweden took where life carried on, albeit with a few restrictions, was a better approach.

“So that shouldn’t be removed from us. We’ll be giving authority to the World Health Organisation just to do this.

“They would have the ability to say, ‘there is a global pandemic, you must all lock own now’.

“Brexit Britain, what was Brexit about? It was about taking back control.

“It was about us being in charge of these big decisions and not to give them to a bureaucracy, a bureaucracy that’s fairly questionable in terms of the way that it operates financially.”

Nigel intends to fight the WHO’s power grab by launching a petition on the Government’s website.

“I am hoping we get hundreds of thousands of people who say, ‘we should not do this without a proper Parliamentary debate’”, he said.

“The fact is, this hasn’t even been discussed. The WHO can be a force for good, but it’s heading now into a territory that it shouldn’t be going towards.”

The WHO is hoping to reach an agreement on the pandemic treaty later in May.

The Telegraph reported earlier in the month that Britain is refusing to sign the agreement amid fears it undermines its sovereignty.
