GB News presenter Patrick Christys and his cameraman were hurled with verbal and physical abuse, as they attended a pro-migrant protest in Peckham.

A large group of protesters surrounded a coach at an accommodation centre in south London, to block the detaining of migrants earmarked for flights to Rwanda.

After almost 10 hours of action, monitored by a crowd of Metropolitan Police officers, the stalemate ended in the Home Office abandoning its attempt to move the migrants.

As Patrick and his crew attempted to cover the event, they were bombarded with abuse by the protesters, telling them to "f*** off".

Members of the group, many with their faces covered, tried to convince Patrick and his cameraman that what they were witnessing was the voice of the people, standing up and confronting an abuse of power.

One angry protester told Patrick directly: "F*** off please! What part of f*** off do you not understand!"

Another protester shouted "f*** GB News", which started a chant from other furious members of the crowd.

As others attempted to block the GB News camera from filming the chaos, Patrick tried to tell the crowd that we are "only reporting on what's going on", to which they assumed "for all the wrong reasons?"

Other activists can be heard chanting: "No detentions, no flights. Refugees have human rights".

One anonymous attendee told GB News: "This bus is supposed to take migrants to the Bibby Stockholm.

"We as a community are here to stop them and this will take place across the country", before pointing at the rental scooter lodged under the bus.

Condemning the protest in Peckham, Home Secretary James Cleverly said: “We will continue to remove those with no right to be here.

“No amount of chanting, drum banging or tyre-slashing by a noisy few will prevent us doing what is necessary to deliver the firm but fair approach that the British people expect.”

As a result of the incident, the Metropolitan police made 45 arrests in Peckham for a variety of offences and a number of officers were assaulted, according to Scotland Yard commanders.
