A fire has engulfed a double decker bus at a bus station in Blackburn as plumes of smoke can be seen across the Lancashire town.

The station, on Ainsworth Street, has been evacuated while emergency services tackle the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.

A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Police said: "Officers are on scene at Blackburn Bus Station assisting our colleagues from the fire service with an incident.

"Railway Road leading to the station and surrounding streets have been closed. Please plan your route accordingly to avoid the area."
