The teenage boy who was killed in a sword attack in north east London attended the same school as Nottingham stabbing victim Grace O'Malley-Kumar.

The 14-year-old, who has not been named, was a student at private school Bancroft's in Woodford Green, reports Sky News.

Grace O'Malley-Kumar, who was killed in the attacks in Nottingham in June last year, was a former student at the school. The school's flag is flying at half mast today after the tragedy.

O'Malley Kumar's parents have offered support to the schoolboy's family this morning.

Met Police detectives have said they don't think it was a targeted attack, or terror-related.

Officers are still working to establish the circumstances of what took place in Hainault. Police were initially called to the scene at 7am with footage showing police apprehending a man after he was tasered.

Valdo Calocane was sentenced to to a indefinite hospital order earlier this year after admitting manslaughter by diminished responsibility and attempted murder of Grace O'Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber and Ian Coates.

However, following concerns raised by the victim’s families, His Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Inspectorate has reviewed the decision to accept the plea.
