Locals have hit out after a free bus service has been offered to asylum seekers in Portland.

Speaking to GB News, one resident named Kelvin Thomson asked: "How can the local community move forward if they are always kept in isolation from us? A lot of people are confused as to why they are here, maybe a little chat on the bus would help because that is where people do talk."

The free bus service is laid on daily to transport around 500 migrants from the Bibby Stockholm in and out of Portland Port in Dorset.

Once they have left the port asylum seekers are free to roam around Weymouth, Portland and beyond. They also have access to local services, including a GP.
